Illness / Health Conditions Do not attend any classes if you have covid or any serious health condition unless you have spoken to us first. If someone has a serious illness or condition, is considered high risk or has someone at home who is considered vulnerable, they are entering the course at their own risk and the actors café will not be held responsible for any loss of life, injury, or any illness caused. In light of recent covid events, if an outbreak of illness was to occur and lock down was to be reinstalled then we would continue the classes online as far as possible. By agreeing to this you take full responsibility of your health and safety.
Attendance It is important that you contact us with as much notice as possible if you cannot attend a session. Missed sessions do not carry over onto the next term. The Actor's Cafe will try to offer alternatives for you during the same term that you attend if you miss a session, outlined by email or in person when signing up. However, we cannot guarantee an alternative for you should you choose not to attend for any reason or quit the course at any time. The Actor's Cafe cannot be held responsible for any feeling of loss as a result of your own absences. Refunds will not be given. The Actor's Cafe holds the right to refuse students the opportunity to move to the next acting course level should there be a lack of attendance to the term, particularly if you miss multiple sessions. You are expected to attend every session of the course as far as possible, unless you have an understanding/agreement with us before applying. Please let us know if you cannot attend all sessions for any reason.
Punctuality Each student is expected to arrive 5 minutes before the session to allow time for a prompt start. If you are due to be late, you must tell us why and give as much notice as possible. Repeat lateness may result in you not progressing to the next course level.
Student Behaviour The Actor's Cafe has the right to remove any student from the course with immediate effect if any student is seen in the tutors opinion to not be treating sessions with proper behaviour or respectable conduct. If any student is found to have been drinking alcohol or be under the influence of drugs when attending any session then The Actor's Cafe has the right to remove that student from the course with immediate effect. If any student is deemed to be verbally abusive, aggressive, repeatedly disrespectful, persistently rude, or showing a quality of behaviour which is not in line with a positive working attitude, The Actor's Cafe has the right to remove that student with immediate effect. Students who are removed will not receive refunds.

Emails All emails sent are intended for the recipient / student only and the student does not have the right to share any content of emails to anyone else during the term, including online, unless they have specifically asked for permission. Emails on the course will be sent out typically once before every session with session instructions. The Actor's Cafe cannot guarantee that the email will be sent the same time every week. You must expect that session instructions may be received anytime up to the day before your session. It is your responsibility to have read and understood the instructions and cleared any doubts about the instructions with the tutor before the class. You must respond to every email. If you do not respond to emails, then the tutor is not responsible for any loss of time or preparation or inconvenience that you may feel as a result of not seeing the email or having read it properly.
Classes Set-Up Structure Class set up and structure can vary from session to session. The Actor's Cafe is conscious of practically involving every student in exercises during the term. However, it must be understood that as part of the course (as for most drama school / actor training centres) there may be sessions where the student is learning through observation rather than direct practical involvement or performance. The Actor's Cafe is not obliged to refund any student for any sessions where you have observed a session rather than practically taken part.
Video/showreel footage Fees for showreel/video footage are priced at £50 per scene. It is not compulsory to purchase any video/showreel footage - you will see / study / receive feedback on your screen material as part of the course fee. Showreels are intended to be used only as a demo to your work for CV's / links to invite others too. Showreels are only intended for use for Acting CV's or as a private link to invite individuals to watch. Your showreel may contain scripts which you do not have the rights to share on any other platform such as social media. If an issue arrises as a result of sharing your showreel outside of your Acting CV, then you the student (signer of this agreement) are held fully responsible.
Photo/video permission During the course it's likely that you will have photos/video taken during your rehearsal process, which may be used for our website and social media. This may benefit the student as we have industry professionals who look at our website and social media who may want to work with the student based on who they see. As most are happy for usage to go out on social media, we assume that you agree unless you let us know otherwise. The Actor's Cafe has the right to use any students screen/showreel footage online for advertising purposes without any payment to the student. We understand that you are happy with the above unless you tell us otherwise.
Health/ Medical and, or Learning Difficulties In order to help your acting progress, you will be invited to take part in exploring your emotional psychology for use in your work. We assume that every student is happy to take part in all exercises. It is very important that you let us know of any medical conditions, including mental health / physical conditions, or allergies etc - which may affect you during the sessions. In response to this information you are agreeing that you are medically capable, physically capable and in good mental health and/or fit enough to take part, or if you do have a health condition that your doctor has advised that you are fit and able enough to take part in such activities.
It is also very important that you make us aware, before the start of your term, of any learning difficulties or disabilities, as we want you to make the most of this experience and not be held back due to this. If you do not inform us of any conditions or disabilities then we will not be held responsible for any misunderstandings and you will take full responsibility for your learning or may be asked to move to another teaching arrangement.
Foundation / Intermediate / Advanced Levelling Generally all of our students complete their training levels in they way they are intended - foundation / intermediate / advance with parts 1&2 for each level. It is the discretion of The Actor's Cafe though as to whether you advance to the next stage in your training or not and we hold the right to regulate / refuse your advancement if we feel it's for your own benefit. We hold the right to be able to do this without threat of negative review, as it should be understood that this may be necessary part of the learning process. The tutors hold the right to assess and regulate whether you are taking to the exercises and training well enough in order to advance. If you are absent from or late to more than 3 of your sessions during the term, you run the risk of not advancing onto your next level of training. If you are regularly late, rude, or bring behaviour to the session which is not conducive to a positive working environment then there is a chance you may not advance to next stage.
Tutor Attendance As you are aware, the tutors on the course are working professionals from the industry. Due to the unpredictable nature of the acting industry, tutors may be called at short notice to work. In such instances an alternative acting tutor will be provided as cover for you. In the rare case that no acting tutor can cover a single session, you may be invited to rehearse your scenes under the guidance of a designated member of the group. In the rare case where a session may have to be cancelled, an alternative session will be offered to you. Although best effort will be made to ensure that the session suits everybody's schedule, we cannot guarantee that it will, and The Actor's Cafe holds the right to run the alternative class at any time, in-person, online or other.
Visiting Professionals With every term (intermediate/Advanced) Actors Cafe sees visits from one or more visiting tutors such as a casting director, film director, actor, agent etc. As visiting professionals are working in the acting industry their schedules can suddenly draw them away from planned arrangements. The actors cafe has always been successful in seeing industry guests visit, but due to the nature of their schedules we cannot 100% guarantee their appearance. Please note that some industry guest sessions are by invite only, this is to benefit the student as well as the relationships that the actors cafe has with its visiting professionals - it’s not beneficial for the student or for the actors cafe for all students to perform in front of industry guests if they are not yet at a level to do so.
Term Bookings / Spotlight Tuition is booked with us on a term by term (10/12 weeks) basis. Although The Actor's Cafe aims to run consistently term by term, however, it must be understood by the applicant / student that when signing to the classes that situations may occur that are beyond the control of the The Actor's Cafe financially, or with student numbers, staff health, venue issues or other reasons which may discontinue the running of the courses. We cannot be held responsible for such occurrences or offer refunds to previous terms or compensate for this. Or if a student / applicant has not been able to complete their progress towards their spotlight accreditation as a result of the above, The Actor's Cafe cannot be held responsible and refunds cannot be offered. Advice can be given though on how to further achieve Spotlight Accreditation or training development.
Sign-up details / Information You agree that all information about you including name, address and mobile number or other necessary details in order to sign up to the course are fully accurate, legal and correct. We appreciate your best possible feedback via social media and online.
WhatsApp Groups / Networking / Businesses The Actor's Cafe WhatsApp groups are solely for all things Actor's Cafe class related - including information on classes, reflections between students on sessions and any updates about the classes. Please note that whilst The Actor's Cafe is happy for student to network, create projects together, organise events and share information about things that are not Actor's Cafe related - this must be done outside of the The Actor's Cafe social networking groups and classes in-person, if anything is not directly set up or posted by The Actor's Cafe admin team - then any information, organisation or event is regarded as unofficial, and you are attending or acknowledging it at your own risk. Please always check if you're unsure of anything with us. The Actor's Cafe is not responsible for anything that is arranged by students outside of social groups or classes.
The Actor's Cafe is not obliged to promote students businesses such as photography, voiceovers, acting classes, retreats etc, these must not be arranged or discussed within the session time and The Actor's Cafe can remove posts or individuals from the school who are seeking to take advantage of the sessions to promote their own agendas in this way unless discussed with The Actor's Cafe team first - such acts can be confusing or distracting for students and can undermine The Actor's Cafe as a business, so we trust that students are attending the course for the purpose of learning from how to become actors and to enjoy the classes and events as they are arranged by The Actor's Cafe in this regard. Please do not make arrangements, book events or promote businesses using the The Actor's Cafe platform in any way unless you have asked permission by a member of our team first.
If at anytime the student has a suggestion on how to improve our services, or has any feedback for us, we welcome this outside of the class time by email, via the feedback form or by discussing with a member of staff outside of the session.
I have carefully and completely read this agreement and fully understand the purpose, intent and effect of this agreement. I have voluntarily executed the agreement by action of my own free will.
